XBox Live Vision Camera

Filed under: Microsoft — Vamshi @ 11:39 pm

Gamasutra has a somewhat in-depth overview of the upcoming Live Vision Camera for XBox 360 which releases September 19 in the US. Interesting features include:

  1. Video conferencing through the 360
  2. Photo emails/messages through Live
  3. Gamer profile pictures
  4. Face tracking in games
  5. Gesture based gaming

Personally, I can see 1. being interesting right out of the box if you have multiple friends/family across the country with 360s. Particularly if the application allows for simple multi-way video conferencing. Face tracking and gesture based games sound cool, but it would really would depend on how good the device is at doing this stuff and what kind of games are developed to take advantage of the features.

Also, trying to use the tags plugin to Windows Live Writer (see below) with the current tags going to Technorati…Not sure how useful that is, but it’s the best I can do in lieu of Spaces support for multiple categories per post, which is what I’d really like.
